Should heavy 9ct gold ‘beep’ at airport security check in?

my issue is my new bangle caused the ‘beeper’ to go off… it’s 9ct and heavy - around 24gms. i am now wondering if it’s not all 9ct like it’s supposed to be & i may have been ripped off! As 9ct is a mix of gold i thought that might be the reason? 24ct would be pure gold?
Odds are that it isn’t 100% gold for starters and the lower the number of ct the lower the percentage of gold in the item. I’m willing to bet that there is a high percentage of iron or steel in the bangle and that is what is setting the detector off.
